Prof. KN Ganesh elected Vice President of Indian Academy of Sciences  Jan 08, 2016

 
Prof. KN Ganesh, Director of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune, has been elected to the Council of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore as Vice-President for the three-year term from 2016 to 2018.

The Indian Academy of Sciences was established in 1934 by Prof.  C. V. Raman. It aims to promote pure and applied science by supporting academic research and dissemination of scientific information in society.  The Academy is administered by a Council of twenty elected members that includes the President and four Vice-Presidents.

Prof. Ganesh, who works in the area of bio-organic chemistry and biology of nucleic acids, became a Fellow of the Academy in 1993. For the upcoming term, he has been elected as one of the Vice Presidents. Additionally, he will also be Editor of Publications of the Academy.

We congratulate Prof. Ganesh and wish him success for his new role.
