Valedictory Ceremony for 2020 Outgoing Batch of Students  Nov 21, 2020

IISER Pune held a valedictory function today (November 20, 2020) where the 2020 outgoing batch of students were congratulated and awardees were felicitated through an online event. This event was held to celebrate the graduation of students, as the convocation for the year 2020 could not be held in May/June at the usual time of the year due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dean (Academics) Prof. Bhas Bapat and Director Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar addressed the students and announced the awardees.

A total of 164 BS-MS students, 21 Integrated PhD students, and 55 PhD students graduated this year. Further, 4 students graduated with a BS degree, 5 students from the Integrated PhD programme graduated with an MS degree.

Twenty-seven BS-MS students received their degrees with Distinction (CGPA >9.0). The Institute Gold Medal for academic excellence in the BS-MS programme was won by Sriram Raghunath (Mathematics), who graduated with a CGPA of 9.9.

Four graduating PhD students were presented with the Xytel Best PhD Thesis Awards: Amit Kumar (Biology), Vijayakanth T. (Chemistry), Kulkarni Girish Murlidhar (Mathematics) and Amit Bhunia (Physics) bagged the awards.

Three graduating Integrated PhD students were presented with the Xytel MS Best Thesis Awards: Shana Shirin V. (Chemistry), Devesh Verma (Earth and Climate Sciences) and J. Bharathi Kannan (Physics) bagged the awards.
