E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase HUWE1

It is a member of TOM1/PTR1 family. Shows in vitro ubiquitination activity for all histone types and is testis specific (PMID: 15767685). Mule is shown to regulate DNA polymerase beta (Pol beta) by ubiquitination and controls base excision repair (PMID: 19713937). HectH9 is shown to ubiquitinate and degrade TopBP1 thus being involved in regulation of cell cycle checkpoint (PMID: 18923429). It is also known to target Rev-erb alpha (heme receptor) for ubiquitination which in turn regulates Clock genes demonstrating its role in circadian cycle (PMID: 20534529).
