H3T3ph

H3 Threonine 3 phosphorylation occurs specifically during mitosis and is important for normal alignment of chromosomes on the metaphase plate (PMID: 15681610). H3T3ph is often found to be associated with H3K4me3 and H3R8me2 and is thought to work in combination to provide faster progression through metaphase-anaphase checkpoint (PMID: 19622635). H3T3ph marks guide the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) to the centromere (PMID: 20705812, PMID: 20929775). H3T3 phosphorylation is shown to inhibit TFIID binding at H3K4me mark and thus regulate transcription (PMID: 20953165).
