Lysine-specific demethylase 4B

JMJD2B belongs to the JHDM3 family of demethylases. It catalyses the demethylation of H3K9me3 (PMID: 16603238). Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF-1?) is known to induce expression of JMJD2B gene and is involved in renal cancers (PMID: 18984585). Estrogen receptor alpha leads to the upregulation of HIF and hence regulates JMJD2B levels in breast cancer cells (PMID: 20682797).
