Lysine-specific demethylase 6B
JMJD3 belongs to the UTX family and contains a JmJC domain. It catalyses the demethylation of majorly trimethylated H3K27 and to lower extent, dimethylated H3K27 (PMID: 17923864). NF-kB is involved in the regulation of JMJD3 as it is required for JMJD3 activation. Its activity is required for regulation of Hox genes (PMID: 17825402). It also plays an essential role in regulating cellular differentiation (PMID: 18628393). Jmjd3 controls the process of cellular senescence by regulating INK4a/ARF tumour suppressor locus (PMID: 19451218). Expression level of JMJD3 has been reported to rise in during prostate cancers and more so in metastatic prostate cancers (PMID: 17923864).
