Lysine-specific demethylase 8

KDM8 belongs to the JmJC domain containing protein family but exclusively lacks the PHD/Tudor domain for binding to DNA/Chromatin. It demethylates H3K36me2 and is reported to be overexpressed in breast cancers. Since it controls the transcription of cyclin A1, it is supposed to be a cell cycle regulator (PMID: 20457893). JMJD5 is also involved in the circadian systems in humans (PMID: 21115819).
