Histone acetyltransferase KAT2B
PCAF majorly catalyse the acetylation of histone H3 and H4. Activated protein C (APC) is shown to regulate PCAF (p300/CBP-associated factor) in human macrophage cells and also changes the acetylation and deacetylation patterns of the genome (PMID: 20976180). PCAF is also known to acetylate non-histone proteins like p53 leading to its activation which in turn is inhibited by MDM2 (PMID: 12068014). PCAF knockdown leads to cell cycle arrest in G1 phase and apoptosis. PCAF is shown to be overexpressed in cisplatin resistant human cancer cells (PMID: 20530585).
