Probable histone acetyltransferase MYST1

MYST1 is also known as MOF. H4K16 acetylation mediated by MYST1 is crucial for DNA damage response and DNA double strand break responses (PMID: 20479123) (PMID: 17694080). mRNA and protein levels of MYST1 are found to be significantly reduced in primary breast carcinomas and medulloblastomas (PMID: 18058815). Downregultion of MOF causes significant decrease in H4K16 acetylation resulting in reduced transcription of cetain genes and cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase (PMID: 16227571).
