Histone acetyltransferase KAT2A
KAT2A also known as GCN5 (general control nonderepressible 5) is a human histone acetyltransferase and its activity is conserved from yeasts to humans. It is important for transcriptional activation (PMID: 8972232). Gcn5 is also responsible for the acetylation of histone H3 at the gamma-H2A.X harbouring nucleosomes at the site of DNA damage, thus establishing a cross-talk between the two histone modifications (PMID: 20224553).
