General transcription factor 3C polypeptide 4

TFIIC90 has been shown to bind chromatin and possess an intrinsic histone acetyltransferase activity. It has the potential to acetylate free as well as nucleosomal histones and further relieve chromatin mediated transcriptional repression as shown in the case of tRNA genes (PMID: 9891093). TFIIC90 has a substrate specificity for lysine 14 of histone H3 (PMID: 8980232, PMID: 10523658).
