Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase MLL5

MLL5 is a SET domain containing methyltransferase and is ubiquitously expressed. Overexpression of MLL5 is shown to inhibit cell cycle progression, suggesting its role as a tumour suppressor. MLL5 is also reported to form complexes and influence chromatin remodelling (PMID: 14718661). Inhibition of MLL5 is responsible for the G1 and G2/M phase arrest of the cell cycle, hence it acts as a cell cycle regulator (PMID: 18573682).
