Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase, H3 lysine-9 specific 5

Glp1 is shown to methylate histone H1 in a variant specific manner and facilitates interaction with HP1 (PMID: 20334638). It is shown to be a part of a large multimeric complex comprising of Suv39h1, G9a and SETDB1. Glp1 and G9a often work in association and hence specifically mediate H3K9 dimethylation and H3K27 methylation (PMID: 20129054, PMID: 19531572).
