H3K9me2
H3K9 dimethylation is one of the prominent marks of transcriptional repression (PMID: 18552846). These marks also harbour the insulin gene, specifically in Hela cells and human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells and repress it. Whereas Human islet-derived precursor cells that express insulin does not show occupation of such marks at the insulin locus (PMID: 17901401). Demethylation of H3K9me2 has been observed at the Oct4 and Nanog loci during the process of reprogramming (PMID: 17314394).
